Maria McCarthy

 

Maria McCarthy has been living in Milan since 1982, having worked as a translator and interpreter for 3 years in London. She is a graduate of Stirling University in Scotland, her native land.

She set up her own company, Caledonian Communications, in 1991 and now employs around 30 people of various nationalities. Caledonian provides high quality managerial and language training, as well as a wide range of translation and interpreting services, to a wide range of large multi-nationals. The company continues to grow every year.

She has recently set up another company with her husband, Vernie McCarron, called Caledonian Electrics providing bespoke technical services and project management in the building sector.

Maria has been a Councillor on the Board of the Chamber for several years now and has always been a very active member.  She believes that networking is the key to a successful business and the Chamber provides an ideal opportunity.
