Ian Dunhill graduated with a Joint Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business Studies and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh in 1992. He then joined Coopers & Lybrand in Edinburgh where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

In 1995 he came to Milan on a two year secondment with C&L, which was quickly extended to three and then fours years. By 1999 it was glaringly obvious that Ian wasn’t leaving Milan any time in the near future so he left the UK firm and joined the Italian firm, by that time known as PricewaterhouseCoopers. At this point Ian was focusing all his time on Transaction Services helping predominately UK and US companies with their Italian acquisition and merger decisions.

In 2000 Ian decided to leave the professional services arena and joined Altea SpA as their Group CFO. Altea is an Italian company operating in the telematics market with subsidiaries across Europe. In April 2002 Ian left Altea and became Finance Director of Almirall SpA. Almirall is the leading Spanish pharmaceutical company and Ian was one of the first people employed in Italy to help set up the Italian subsidiary. By the time Ian left Almirall in 2007 it had over 230 employees and nine products on the Italian prescription pharmaceutical market, including such household names as Ansiolin, Synflex, Motilex, Kestine, Pantopan and Airtal.

In November 2007 Ian left both Almirall and Milan to become Head of Finance for MoneyGram Payment Systems Italy based in Rome.  MoneyGram is a high-performance payment and financial services company that helps people and businesses by providing affordable, reliable and convenient payment services. MoneyGram’s products are currently available at more than 125,000 locations worldwide. In Italy, MoneyGram offers its customers affordable, quick, reliable and convenient money transfer services through more than 2,000 locations. As well as offering the possibility to affordably send money all over the world in less than 10 minutes, MoneyGram also offers its customers other products such as prepaid debit cards and cash-to-account transactions.

As well as being a councillor of the British Chamber of Commerce in Italy, Ian is also on the board of the Italian Association of International Accountants (www.iaia-accountants.com).
